Pêle-MEL, focus on the photographic collections of the MEL Archives

This exhibition presents the photographic collections of the MEL from 1970-2000. It offers both a human and technical perspective on various topics related to the CUDL’s skills (housing, transport, roads, etc.), but also on their multiple formats: silver and slide prints especially. From aerial views, through the views of municipalities and neighborhoods, to those centered on the inhabitants, browse a selection of nearly 350 photographs from the archives where almost 120,000 photos are kept!
The exhibition is exceptionally open on weekends for Heritage Days.
Guided tours will be led by the curators of the exhibition, who will accompany you in the discovery of this rich photographic collection.
The visit on September 20 at 4 PM will be translated into French sign language.

Plastic arts workshops The MEL stories

The photographer Olivier Despicht and the videographer Erik Chevalier, both teachers at the Centre d'arts plastiques et visuels de Lille, will conduct visual art workshops from archival photographs.During the session, participants are invited to play with the photographs. Cut out, combine, divert, create, paste, compare, exchange... and appropriate them to reinvent stories! A way to discover the construction of a photograph and to form the gaze as much on the formal aspects as on the message that an image can convey.A first workshop is proposed from 8 years old to create a collective diorama with integration of a micro-mapping.From 12 years old, a second workshop is dedicated to the development of an accordion-book (or leporello), on the principle of an exquisite corpse, linking writings, photographs taken by the participants and archival shots.For the diorama/micro-mapping workshop from 8 years old: Saturday, September 20 from 2 PM to 5 PM.For the leporello workshop from 12 years old: Sunday, September 21st from 2 PM to 5 PM.Free parking.Access by public transport: stops Defaux (18) and Orée du Golf (Corolle 01).Book
