  • À propos

The cathedral of Saint-Pierre was built in the 14th century, from 1364\. Remodelled in the following centuries, it was enlarged in the 19th century, at the level of the current transept and choir. It presents a southern Gothic style. It is adjacent to the faculty of medicine. Originally, it was the church of the monastery-college Saint-Benoît, occupied by the Benedictine monks. It became a cathedral, seat of the bishop, in 1536\. Owned by the State, it has been classified as a historical monument since 1906 and the Ministry of Fine Arts has been in charge of it since 1912\. It is maintained and restored today by the services of the DRAC d'Occitanie. The parish is responsible for the premises.
