The Orangery of the Parc de la Tête d'Or Created in 1857 by the Bühler brothers, the Tête d'Or park is one of the largest urban parks in France. True green lung of Lyon, it houses on 117 hectares of varied landscapes, a zoological garden, a botanical garden, as well as many iconic buildings: large greenhouses, rose garden, chalets and monuments. High place of walk and culture, it was also the scene of remarkable international exhibitions, including the Colonial Exhibition of 1894. Among its treasures is the Orangery. Built in 1829 to protect during the winter the orange trees of the place des Terreaux, the Orangerie was first installed in the old plant garden of the Croix-Rousse before being rebuilt in 1859 in the park newly created by the Bühler brothers. Flanked by two side pavilions, it is still today one of the emblematic buildings of the park.
