Two medieval houses dating from the 13th or 14th century are remembrées in the 15th century. The mansion was again remodelled in the 18th century by the merchant Fulcrand Roux. Five medieval rooms on the ground floor, vaulted with ridges and ribs, now form a unified ensemble, overlooking the hotel garden and describing an arc of circle sensitive to the view. This space, called the Petrarch Hall, is made available by the City for conferences and meetings. The hotel de Varennes is owned by the city, listed as a Historic Monument on May 28, 2018.
