The Château de la Piscine is a Montpellier madness from the second half of the 18th century, a private property that can be admired from the outside or during the Heritage days or the Garden days, by guided tours offered by the owners. The castle was built in 1770 for Joseph Philibert de Belleval, president of the Court of Accounts Aids and Finances of Montpellier, on the site of the Mas de la Peyssine dating from 1435\. It takes its name from the elegant staging organized around a basin, framed by side aisles opened by monumental vases and statues representing the four seasons. Elisa Bonaparte, grand duchess of Tuscany, rented the place for a few weeks in 1814, after the fall of Napoleon. In April 1965, the estate was visited by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on a private trip to France. Listed as a historical monument since 1942, the castle has a French-style landscaped garden. It is not open to the public.

The Château de la Piscine exceptionally opens its doors to the public on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Visit the Castle Park freely over an unprecedented journey. You can also meet the restaurant owners art Cristina and Gonzalo Sanzcarranza, who contributed to the restoration of works and furniture on the estate.
On this occasion, the park also hosts a Previously unseen exhibition by the Franco-American artist Ève Laroche-Joubert, presented in three distinct spaces.
ATTENTION: Guided and commented tours of the historic rooms of the Castle are only booked by time slots and by guided tour, via the ticket office "European Heritage Days 2026 – Guided Tour".
